Gimme some light

The last night, I spontaneously decided to pick up my cam and take some night shots from the river-side-view of Mainz. Despite it was quite cold, the exciting part was to be at places where I already took some shots a few years ago using my old Minolta 505si (quite a good cam back then). Have fun and enjoy the view!

This one shows a view at the Mainz city hall, Mainz Dome and the 'Rheingoldhalle', a common event place on the other side of the rhine river (the lights on the lower right) .

Here I spotted the Theodor-Heuss bridge which connects the city of Mainz-Kastel on the other side of the Rhine river with Mainz.
The last one I call 'a Quiet view' .

I like the second picture there, with the bridge. Was the river starting to freeze, or are they currents that can be seen? The distortion on the lights look really cool as well. What shutter speed was used?

Despite it was quite cold (around -3°C) the river was not freezing, but it was steady flowing which seems to have produced this effect :) I used a shutter speed of around 13 seconds and an aperture of F11.
